Welcome to The Whiteley Surgery and Locks Road Branch Surgery Online
Option decided for GP services in Western Wards, Fareham – Update from the Southampton, Hampshire, Isle of Wight and Portsmouth PCT Cluster
Over the last few weeks the Hampshire Local Involvement Network (LINk) has been discussing options with patients and residents about providing GP services for local people in the Locks Heath area.
Following the decision made by Dr Roope and Partners for the GP Practice to consolidate their services onto a single site at their main surgery in Whiteley, resulting in the closure of their Locks Road branch surgery in Locks Heath, NHS Hampshire worked with local practices and estates specialists to explore and develop feasible options for providing GP services for local people in the Locks Heath area, including the expected population growth.
During the autumn the Hampshire LINk discussed the three options with local patients and residents and we would like to thank everyone who took the time to share their views by filling in a survey or attending a drop-in event. The LINk used the views it received to make recommendations to NHS Hampshire and the report submitted to the PCT is available at www.hampshire-link.co.uk .
At its meeting on January 31, 2012 the Southampton, Hampshire, Isle of Wight and Portsmouth PCT Cluster Board determined that establishing a GP service in Fareham Community Hospital was the most suitable option for providing sustainable primary care medical services for the existing and future population of the Western Wards in Fareham.
This new service will provide GP services for patients who currently use Locks Road Branch Surgery, which is due to close, and do not wish to travel to the main surgery in Whiteley and will have additional space for current and future residents within the local area.
Following the Board decision we will now develop plans to establish a GP service at Fareham Community Hospital. In the meantime Dr Roope and Partners have agreed to continue to provide services from both the Whiteley and Locks Road Surgeries until the new service is established.
We would like to welcome the following New Partner to the Practice
Dr Vivek Shirvastva will joining the Partnership w/c 9th Janaury 2012 and will be working Mon / Tues / Thurs all day & Weds mornings
Dr Sarah Gawthorpe will also be joing the Practice as an Associate GP w/c Monday 2nd January 2012 and will be working all day Mondays /Tues & Weds pm
Patient Reference Group (PRP)
The Practice is asking for patients to join a patient reference group
With your consent to join this group your details will be held in a secure database
The Practice periodically will use this database to contact patients to gauge feedback on services the practice currently provides or would like to provide in the future
The Practice already has a core patient participation group who meet quarterly to discuss patient issues but to also receive information around changes affecting general practice, this core goup will continue to work closely with the surgery and questions arising will be discussed and form the basis of future questionnaires
The new PRP will be representative so not all patients who have given us their details will be contacted every time as there may be reasons we need to target specific patients for example the elderly or young carers
Results from questionnaires will be published via this website or in the surgery through our newsletter and notice boards
This surgery website is used to present all our patients with up to date news and information about our practice. We will keep it current with any developments or other details that we feel are relevant to you.
