The Patient Participation Group (PPG) has now been formed The group consists of patient representatives, GPs, nursing and administration staff from both the main site of Whiteley and branch surgery at Locks Rd The group meets quarterly and are already accredited with the membership of the National Association of Patient Participation (NAPP)
Patient participation can benefit both patients and practices Having a PPG creates a connection between the practice and its patients in turn allowing open, constructive discussion and analysis of service provision, and offering an alternative perspective on many of the topics relevant to general practice
'Our purpose is 'to facilitate two-way communication between patients and the practice for the benefit of services provided currently and in the future' However we are unable to communicate with all 13,500+ patients The aim of this link is therefore to let you know of the groups existence
The PPG Objectives for 2010-11
1. To establish and consolidate a representative PPG for the practice, with an agreed Aim, Terms of Reference and Constitution
2. To publicise widely the introduction of the PPG to the patient population, as a facility to foster their input of constructive suggestions and proposals, designed to benefit the primary care services provided by the practice
3. To visit or liaise with other Hampshire PPG's in order to benefit from their experience and best practice
4. Through membership of the National Association for Patient Participation Groups ( NAPP), to monitor PPG initiatives and healthcare developments nationally
The PPG now have notice boards and suggestion boxes in both the Whiteley & Locks Rd Surgeries and welcome your ideas
Please not that the PPG is not a forum to bypass the normal complaints proceedure as the Practice has a statutory proceedure to comply with wher complaints are concerned
